Who are we?

• ​The Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) Local 1466 supports all union represented employees of Washington State Parks.

What is a union and what do we do?

• Our union helps secure better wages, benefits, and workplace protections by negotiating terms and conditions of employment through a collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

• Collective bargaining is our ability to negotiate for things as a group. It is our strength in numbers and our voices amplified because they are being heard together.

• We also work to improve and maintain safe working conditions, resolve workplace problems, and defend work/life balance.

What does it mean to be a union member?

• ​When you join Local 1466, you are strengthening the power of your voice to affect change for yourself and your fellow Parks staff.

• Local 1466 defends worker’s rights and promotes equitable and just treatment for all parks employees.

Say I sign up to join the union. What now? What does that mean? What should I expect? What is my role? Where should I start?

• ANY level of involvement makes ALL the difference.

• We look to you and your needs to drive our work. We are your support system and are here to protect your workers' rights, representation, pay, benefits, and leave.

• You should expect regular email updates from WFSE and 1466 leadership. These updates keep members informed about member priorities and ways to get involved.

• Your role is whatever you want it to be. Whether that’s becoming a Shop Steward, serving on the board, joining a committee, providing feedback to leadership, or simply checking-in with members to stay informed.
